I realize that an experience like I had can never truly be captured with words, but I’ll do my best! My stay at the Bret’s farmhouse in Provence was nothing short of perfection. The Bret’s charming personalities and wealth of knowledge about the area allowed me to live the culture and feel the spirit that IS Provence. I felt ‘at home’ in their beautifully renovated 19th century farmhouse, as it has all the modern amenities with lots of old world charm and exquisite grounds. Being a foodie myself I chose to cook along-side them in the well equipped, fabulous farmhouse kitchen where we prepared scrumptious meals and shared stories and anecdotes about our daily adventures….but the nice thing is that the level of participation in the cooking is entirely optional.

It was sometimes hard to leave the breath-taking views that surround the home and   the comfortable luxury it provided, but I encourage you to discover ALL that this area has to offer.  There is SO much to explore that I can’t imagine ever running out of places to go and people to see. Take a day trip in any direction and you won’t be disappointed. The scenery is spectacular, and the history rich and inspiring. Stop at a local vineyard, sip a drink in an open courtyard café and be sure to visit at least one of the many local open markets in one of the surrounding towns. The people are very engaging and tourist friendly.  Some points of interest I particularly enjoyed; Vaison-la-Romaine – with its Medieval city and  Roman ruins, Orange – for the spectacular Roman theatre, and of course wine tasting at Chateauneuf du Pape.

You can rest assured there is no better, more welcoming place to lay your head at the end of the day, feeling pampered and carefree, in preparation for what tomorrow might bring. My thanks to Patrice and Jillian for opening their home and creating a memory that will last a lifetime.
